"Learned the lesson - we are much better equipped"

EU leaders have expressed concern that a similar refugee crisis from the Syrian war in 2015 will be repeated.

But according to Ylva Johansson, EU Commissioner responsible for refugee policy in the EU, we will not be there again.

- I think we learned the lesson, we are much better equipped, she says.

She believes that it is very much about how Sweden and Europe act now.

- The situation is very worrying and we know what the Taliban are capable of.

We cannot wait until people have already left and may already be at the EU's external border.

Now it is a matter of helping the Afghans who remain in Afghanistan, to continue and to increase humanitarian aid.
