- It's really different, I was surprised when no one wore a face mask either on the train or in the shop, says Chad Allery who came from England to study biology.

He is one of the almost 2000 students from abroad who will arrive in Lund in the next few days.

Compared with the autumn of 2020, more exchange students will come to Lund again.

- There are still slightly fewer exchange students than in a normal year as Australia and New Zealand do not allow students to go on an exchange.

That is more than last year but still fewer than in 2019, says Lund University's international director Richard Stenelo.

Vaccine offered

It is during Monday and Tuesday that most exchange students and those who come to Lund to read, for example, master's programs.

During these days, the university welcomes students on site at Kastrup, Lund Central and on campus through the event "Arrival day".

- I hope that the international students are welcomed to Lund and to the university, that is the most important thing for us, says Siri Blomberg who is responsible for the volunteers who work during "Arrival day".

With the corona pandemic, there has been more to coordinate and keep track of than in a normal year.

The university has received many questions about, among other things, entry rules and vaccination.

- We sent out a survey during the summer where it turned out that most who come are already vaccinated in their home country, but for those who are not or have received a vaccine that is not approved in Europe, it is very easy to be vaccinated on place, says Kristy Clarberg, head of "Arrival day".
