The aim is to evaluate the three fishing ban areas used to protect char in Lake Vättern.

The information collected is about the fish's behavior, movement patterns and survival when released.

The fish are caught with the help of sport fishing and then a transmitter is placed in the fish's abdominal cavity with the help of a surgical procedure directly on the lake.

50 recipients will be placed around Lake Vättern.

The survey will show where and when the char resides in all three fishing prohibited areas in Lake Vättern and contribute to increasing knowledge about how the char use areas outside the prohibited areas.

The County Administrative Board wants those who fish for char with labeling to send the transmitter and information about the fish.

The project is a collaboration between SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) and the county administrative boards around Lake Vättern.
