The next track cycling world championships will take place from October 20 to 24 in Roubaix (North), the Union cycliste internationale announced in a statement on Monday.

"The event will take place in the covered regional Jean-Stablinski velodrome (" Le Stab "), an infrastructure inaugurated in 2012 including a 250 m track," said the UCI.

France will therefore host the world track cycling championships for two years in a row, since the 2022 edition has already been awarded to Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.

Initially scheduled for Ashgabat in Turkmenistan from October 13 to 17, the Worlds were moved at the request of the organizers, worried about health restrictions.

"The health constraints and restrictions linked to the covid-19 pandemic make it impossible to stage the event in the country," the UCI explained at the beginning of June.

The last edition of the Worlds, which take place on an annual basis, took place in Berlin in February-March 2020.
