Afghan President Ashraf Ghani left the country on August 15 shortly after the Taliban * announced that the entire republic was under his control.

Later, the militants entered Kabul without a fight and occupied the city.

The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the Russian side has established working contacts with representatives of the new authorities in Afghanistan in order to ensure the security of the Russian embassy.
