People run desperately between the gunshots that follow.

Citizens flock to the airport to escape Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.

Yesterday (15th) local time, Islamic militants occupied the presidential palace in the capital Kabul.

When President Ashraf Ghani gave up resistance and fled the country, he entered the country without blood.

The Taliban immediately declared victory over the United States and its former government.

[Abdul Ghani Baradar/Taliban Deputy Leader: I would like to congratulate the Muslim people of Afghanistan, especially the citizens of Kabul, on this great victory.]

It has only been three months since the US military began withdrawing in May.

News of the fall of Kabul brought thousands of citizens trying to escape Afghanistan to the airport, halting commercial flights, and reports say that at least five people were killed in gunfire and chaos.

The US also withdrew the embassy and mobilized more than 5,000 military troops and helicopters to evacuate employees urgently to escape.

[Tony Blincoln/Secretary of State: We are working to ensure the safety of our people. We are moving our embassy staff to the airport.]

Western countries such as Britain, France, and Germany have also launched an operation to evacuate their own citizens at once.

One Korean citizen who remained in Afghanistan will soon move to a third country, and three officials, including the ambassador, will decide whether to stay in the country or not.

The United Nations holds an emergency meeting of the Security Council today to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.
