In the clip above, you can hear how the Social Democrats' proposal differs from today's whistleblower function and what the Moderates in Gothenburg think about the matter.

- Our employees must be able to report to an external review function that reports directly to us politicians, says Jonas Attenius (S).

According to the Social Democrats' proposal, the new whistleblower function will focus on the work environment and such problems that are highlighted in the report.

The whistleblower function that exists today is more focused on bribery and bribery.

Managers have silenced problems

The external investigation shows, among other things, that municipal employees do not report various irregularities, as they are afraid of reprisals from various criminal networks.

The report, as we have previously reported, also highlights that managers have silenced such problems that employees have tried to raise.

- I take this very seriously, we should absolutely not have a culture of silence in Gothenburg, but we should have a zero tolerance for this, says Axel Josefson (M), chairman of the municipal board in Gothenburg.

This has been going on under your rule, how has it been possible?

- This is something that has been going on for a very long time.

It is a culture that we have inherited after 24 years of social democratic rule.

"Has worked with black contracts"

What have you done concretely then to do something about this during your time in power?

- We have worked with many different measures, for example, we have worked a lot with black contracts and to refurbish our housing companies to be able to meet that problem.

But this report is above all a cornerstone for the work to come, says Axel Josefson (M).

The opposition agrees that the picture that emerges in the report is serious.

- It is extremely serious, I as a politician am extremely responsible for the security of Gothenburgers.

In this report, it is very clear how criminal networks get more space.

And where information does not reach all the way to politicians.

In order to present proposals and make decisions, we must have the right problem picture, says Jonas Attenius (S), Opposition Councilor.
