In Senegal, the national secretary of the Union des routiers denounces the reprisals of the Senegalese population against the Malian drivers after the accident in Kaolack.

Gora Khouma, joined by Abdoulaye Diallo Iallo, from the Fulfulde editorial staff of RFI:

“

What happened in Kaolack is really regrettable.

I condemn him.

Let’s be careful.

Avoid attacking the Malians.

What does that mean ?

It means making the situation worse.

Since there are Senegalese who are here, there are Senegalese who are in Mali.

Let's do everything to stay united.

In any case, I, as national secretary, still call on the Senegalese to remain calm.

 "

For its part, the Malian drivers' union is committed to raising awareness among its drivers and asks the Senegalese unions to do the same.

His spokesperson, Souleymane Koumare is joined by Sory Ibrahima from the Mendenkan editorial staff of RFI:

“

I would like to tell the Malian drivers who are here, along with the entire Malian population, not to wreck Senegalese or other trucks.

I also ask the Senegalese unions to try to increase their conversations with ministers or others, to already find a solution to appease.

The accident is the accident.

We cannot say that a truck has had an accident and that we must therefore wreck all the trucks.

 "

The Malian and Senegalese authorities are committed to shedding light on these incidents.
