- It is a lot of money so it is clear that it will be felt.

There are other major investment needs in the municipality such as preschools and schools.

But since we must have swimming lessons, it is necessary with a new bathhouse, says the municipal board chairman Ann-Marie Nilsson (C).

Better operating costs for new construction

The investment for the new bathhouse is SEK 884 million, but renovating the existing bathhouse was not an option.

- The difficult thing about the rebuilding alternative was that it had required such an enormous amount of rebuilding and then some uncertainties can also arise.

And operationally, a new building will also be better financially, says Ann-Marie Nilsson.

It would also have been more difficult to keep up with swimming lessons and the training at Jönköping's swimming club during a rebuild.

Now the new bath will be built in front of the existing one and the entrance will be from Stefan Livs gata on the way up to Husqvarna Garden and Elmia's entrances.

- It will be much better to have the entrance on that side, says Ann-Marie Nilsson.

No outdoor pool, relax or adventure pool

What will be built on the surface where Rosenlundsbadet is today is unclear at present.

In the long run, according to Ann-Marie Nilsson, it would be possible to build outdoor pools there, but it is not included in the planned project for a new bathhouse.

There will also be no relaxation area or adventure pool in the new bathhouse.

On Tuesday 17 August, the matter will be taken up in the municipal board and in September the plan is for it to be taken up for decision in the municipal council.

Will you be able to agree politically on this proposal?

- It is my hope - we have had very good discussions where all eight parties represented in the council have participated.

They have been open and constructive and based on that I feel that there should be a large majority who can stand behind this proposal, says Ann-Marie Nilsson.
