The new government has 32 members, including 21 new ministers, three deputy ministers and two secretaries of state.

While Andry Rajoelina is halfway through his term, he has finally introduced his new team.

Rumors of a reshuffle had been going around for almost a year.

Christian Ntsay, the Prime Minister, in place since 2018, is finally renewed.

The ministers were dismissed or maintained according to their respective balance sheets.

Patrick Rajoelina, formerly special adviser to the president, is appointed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Edgard Razafindravahy, owner of the

Express

newspaper

, becomes Minister of Industry and Commerce.

Sophie Ratsiraka, daughter of Admiral Didier Ratsiraka, former President of the Republic, is appointed Minister of Handicrafts.

Cloudy period

This reshuffle comes in a troubled political context with a weakened executive: three weeks ago, justice suspected two French people of wanting to

overthrow the regime

.

The two men are currently in preventive detention.

Famine continues to rage in the south of the country and Médecins Sans Frontières is having difficulty renewing visas for its staff.

This government has two years left to carry the voice of

the emergence of Madagascar

, the president's program, whose economic plan is still awaited by decision-makers.
