Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) won the Tour of Denmark on Saturday after winning the fifth and final stage, a 10.8 km time trial in the landlocked town of Frederiksberg.

The 21-year-old rider is ahead of the overall Dane Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) and Dutch Mike Teunissen (Team Jumbo Visma).

Mads Pedersen was among the favorites of the day but finished 3rd in the stage, 5 seconds behind Evenepoel.

Dane Soren Kragh Andersen finished 2nd in the time trial within 1 second of the winner.

Belgian Tosh Van der Sande, who was 2nd overall on Saturday morning, finished in 37th place at 57 seconds, and thus fell back to 5th place overall.

Already winner of the 3rd stage, the young prodigy Remco Evenepoel won the 19th victory of his young career on Saturday.

Classification of the 5th and last stage:

1. Remco Evenepoel (BEL) in 12:13.

2. Soren Kragh Andersen (DEN) at 1 ".

3. Mads Pedersen (DEN) at 5 ".

4. Edoardo Affini (DEN) at 6 ".

5. Jannik Steimle (GER) at 13 ".

Final general classification:

1. Remco Evenepoel (BEL) in 17:19:17.

2. Mads Pedersen (DEN) at 1:42.

3. Mike Teunissen (NED) at 2:00.

4. Nick Van Der Lijke (NED) at 2:14.

5. Tosh Van der Sande (BEL) at 2:30.
