Since March 2020, the bus passengers who traveled with Jönköpings Länstrafik have been referred to the middle door when they are to get on the bus.

The front doors, which are usually for boarding, have been closed to protect drivers from infection during the pandemic.

- We have not been able to provide the service that passengers can request, and visa visas have in principle expired, says Kent Svensson, business area manager at Vy.

But now the bus company Vy, which runs the buses in Jönköping, is in full swing installing plexiglass on all buses.

This means that the drivers are protected and that the front doors can soon be opened.

Several buses are already ready, but next week Vy expects to be able to get on there again on all buses.

Buy tickets on board

When the front doors were closed, the traveler could not buy his ticket on board the bus.

Boarding in the middle has also made it more difficult for drivers to check that passengers are paying for themselves.

This has led to reduced income for Jönköpings Länstrafik, JLT.

But according to JLT's CEO Carl-Johan Sjöberg, it will soon be possible to buy your ticket on the bus again.

- When all the buses in the county are equipped with plexiglass, it is possible to start selling tickets on board again.

If we open up for this on September 1 this year or if it takes another week or so, I leave it unsaid, says Carl-Johan Sjöberg.
