Real Madrid, under its new coach Carlo Ancelotti, crushed Alavés 4-1 on Saturday for the first day of La Liga, thanks to a brace from Karim Benzema (48th, 62nd), a goal from Nacho (58th) and a header from Vinicius (90th) +3), facing a penalty from Joselu (65th).

Despite the departures of Zinédine Zidane, Sergio Ramos and Raphaël Varane this summer, Real Ancelotti made a success of their comeback, before Atlético Madrid entered the competition on Sunday at Celta Vigo (15:30 GMT) and FC Barcelona in Camp Nou v Real Sociedad (18:00 GMT).
