Navy said that female Army Sergeant A was found dead yesterday (12th) afternoon in a single dormitory of a unit.

Sergeant A said during a meeting with the commander of the unit on the 7th that he was sexually harassed by Sergeant B of the same unit, and the Navy explained that the report of sexual harassment was received on the 9th.

Sergeant A is said to have stated in the victim investigation that he was sexually harassed by Sergeant B at a restaurant on May 27.

Sergeant A reported the damage to his superior immediately after the incident, but it is known that he did not make a formal report.

Separation of victims and perpetrators was made after the report was received on the 9th, when the unit located on an island in the West Sea was dispatched to the unit on land.

Sergeant A is presumed to have made an extreme choice in the single lodging provided by the dispatched unit.

The Ministry of National Defense Investigation Headquarters and the Navy's Central Investigation Unit, which are investigating the case, said they would thoroughly investigate the case and punish them severely in accordance with the relevant laws.

Military investigative authorities are concentrating their investigative powers on finding out whether there was a secondary persecution, such as conciliation and concealment, between May 27, when the sexual harassment occurred, and the last 7 days, the date of the interview with the commander, and why the official report was delayed.
