A female citizen student in the ninth grade, at Fujairah Basic Education School, has devised a new device to protect children inside vehicles, and alert them in case they forget, which prevents them from being harmed.

The student, Maryam Hassan Al-Ghafri, told "Emirates Today" that she named the project "The Third Eye", which is a device that provides protection and safety in cases of forgetting children inside vehicles.

She explained that the idea of the project depends on installing a system inside the vehicle equipped with advanced and accurate sensors that interact with weight and breathing by monitoring these movements and gases, and triggering an alarm in a timely manner.

She stated that the project consists of sensors, a carbon dioxide measurement device, a warning system, an audio warning device, which is an electric buzzer that produces sounds in different tones, and a text alarm that sends text messages, and the weight sensors work with FSR technology.

Al-Ghafry explained that the device works according to the micro-sensors system, and issues alerts if a child is left in the vehicle.

Al Ghafri participated in the project in the Emirates Inventors Association, and won a number of awards, including creativity and innovation in 2016, Sharjah for educational excellence and excellence in 2017, Hamdan Award for Distinguished Academic Performance in 2018, and the Education Sponsorship Council award for the innovative student category.
