Figures from the Swedish Transport Agency show that since 2019, there have been 495 accidents with electric scooters in Skåne and the corresponding figure for the whole country is 1675.

- We are currently seeing an increase in the number of patients who come to the emergency room on weekends and evenings.

Of course, we are worried about that increase, says Philipp Martin, emergency physician SUS.

"Burdens healthcare unnecessarily"

It's not infrequently it's about drunk people who have to go home at night or young people who ride several pieces on an electric scooter.

- The electric scooters are not built to cope with that load and become too unstable, which leads to accidents that are bad for.

According to the emergency doctor, the number of people who come to the emergency department with injuries is increasing and this development is something they are worried about.

- It burdens healthcare unnecessarily right now when we are fighting corona, says Philipp Martin.
