Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his concern over the tension between Sudan and Ethiopia, while the head of the Sudanese Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan thanked Ankara for its support for his country during the transitional period.

This came during a joint press conference held by Erdogan and Al-Burhan, after talks that took place between them today, Thursday.

Erdogan said that his country is determined to stand by the brotherly Sudanese people and their government and to continue relations in an atmosphere of solidarity.

In turn, Al-Burhan said during his speech that Turkey is a "great country, a leader and a pioneer in the region and the world," noting that Ankara has provided Sudan with support in all fields, from education to health to combating the Corona pandemic.

Al-Burhan also thanked the Turkish president for his strong stance towards demanding the lifting of sanctions and the siege on Sudan, inviting him to visit Khartoum.

Al-Burhan pointed out that many agreements, protocols and memoranda of understanding have been signed between the two parties and will be implemented, without referring to the nature of those agreements.

And the Anatolia news agency reported that President Erdogan received Al-Burhan in an official ceremony at the Presidential Complex in the capital, Ankara.

Earlier, the Sudanese Sovereign Council’s Facebook page stated that the visit, which Al-Burhan started this morning to Ankara, will last for two days, and comes at the invitation of the Turkish President.

Al-Burhan is accompanied on the visit by the Ministers of Defense, Foreign Affairs, Finance and Agriculture, the Director of General Intelligence, and a number of officials.
