Instagram said "sorry" on Wednesday through its parent company Facebook after the brief withdrawal of publications sharing the poster for the next film by Spaniard Pedro Almodovar, "Madres Paralelas", which shows a nipple from which hangs a drop of milk.

"We initially removed several posts with this image for violating our nudity rules," a spokesperson for the Facebook group told AFP.

"We are, however, making exceptions to allow nudity in certain cases, such as when there is a clear artistic context. So we have reinstated the posts sharing the Almodovar movie poster on Instagram, and we are so sorry. for any confusion, ”she added.

The withdrawal of the images had caused controversy on social networks and the media in Spain.

"Shame on you Instagram", denounced the poster's author, the Spanish graphic designer Javier Jaen, posting a screenshot of the social network explaining the removal of the image on Monday for not respecting its "rules of use".

Instagram is regularly singled out for automatic image removal under its very strict nudity and anti-pornography policy.

The application claims that its rules have evolved and have become more "nuanced", to make exceptions in terms of nudity when it comes to breastfeeding, for example, nudity at events or in the art.

"Madres Paralelas", which is due out on September 10 in Spanish theaters, will open the 78th edition of the Venice Film Festival, where it will be in competition and which is held from September 1 to 11.
