25 Algerian soldiers killed while facing forest fires

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced that 25 members of the army were killed while facing forest fires spreading in several regions of the country.

This came in a tweet by the Algerian president, today, Tuesday, on his account on the “Twitter” website.

Tebboune wrote in his tweet: "With great sadness and sorrow, I received the news of the martyrdom of 25 members of the People's National Army, after they succeeded in rescuing more than one hundred citizens from the blazing fires, in the mountains of Bejaia and Tizi Ouzou."

And the Algerian president added: “In front of these solemn speeches, we bow in reverence before the souls of the righteous sons of the nation.

My condolences to all the families of the martyrs, we belong to God and to Him we shall return.”

The Algerian Ministry of Defense said in a statement that it "regretted, with regret, the death of eighteen soldiers, in addition to the injury of 13 other soldiers with burns of varying severity," noting that their intervention allowed "the rescue of 110 citizens, including women, men and children, from the fires."

The fires also killed 13 civilians, including 12 in Tizi Ouzou, according to a new toll from the official Algerian news agency.

It is noteworthy that the forests in Algeria were exposed yesterday, Monday, in about 14 states across the country, to the outbreak of huge fires.

Dozens of fires were recorded in the states, some of which were exposed to 4 fires, while other states witnessed one or two fires, according to official data.
