Massive protests erupted when it became known that a Swiss court had recently reduced the sentence of the accused for the short duration of the sexual assault.

According to a report by the AP on the 10th (local time) citing the local media '20 Minutes', the incident occurred in a nightclub in February of last year.

At the time, the victim was sexually assaulted by A (33) and B (17).

The first trial sentenced A to four years and three months in prison, but the judge of the appeals court held last month reduced it to three years.

This is because the assault lasted only 11 minutes and the victim was not seriously injured.

The judge also added that the victim had sent "a specific signal."

B is currently being tried in the juvenile court.

However, as this fact became known, hundreds of protesters protested the verdict in front of the Basel Court of Appeal on the 8th.

They even held up banners with the words '11 minutes is too long'.

The victim's attorneys said they were shocked by the appeals court's decision to shift some of the blame to the victim.
