According to her, the strengthening of border protection will take place immediately.

As Delfi clarifies, from Wednesday, August 11, until November 10, the emergency situation will operate in Ludza, Kraslava, Augshdaugava regions and the city of Daugavpils.

The border guards are allowed to use physical force and special means to immediately return to Belarus people who illegally crossed the state border.

The National Armed Forces and the State Police should help the border guards to prevent illegal crossing of the Latvian-Belarusian border.

On August 10, Latvian border guards detained over 200 illegal migrants per day for illegally crossing the border with Belarus.
