In a tweet posted on Twitter today, Monday, Turkish Minister of Forestry and Agriculture Bekir Pakdemirli said that all the fires that broke out in the various provinces of Turkey, except for the fires in Milas and Koygiz regions, have been brought under control.

Pakdemirli added that the firefighting efforts in Milas and Koygiz are continuing by land and air until the fires are fully controlled.

Turkey used helicopters to extinguish the fire, and it used drones to put out the fires that broke out about two weeks ago in 47 provinces, especially in the south of the country, such as Antalya, Adana, Mugla, Mersin and Osmania, and it also received support from several countries, including Azerbaijan and Kuwait.

Two Kuwaiti Air Force military planes arrived in Turkey, carrying a firefighting force team to contribute to the efforts to put out the fires. The team includes 45 firefighters, in addition to 6 vehicles fully equipped with combat and rescue equipment.

The Directorate of Moral Guidance and Public Relations in the Kuwaiti army said - in a statement - that the air force will transfer today, Monday, another firefighting team to Greece to contribute to the efforts to extinguish the fires there.

Earlier, the Turkish authorities announced the control of more than 200 fires, and the rain helped extinguish the fires in the forests of Antalya and its surroundings, and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had declared the areas that witnessed major fires disaster areas, as the fires resulted in the death of 8 people and the injury of others.

Greece is still facing simultaneous fires, the most intense on the island of Evia, the country's second largest island (200 km east of Athens).

For the seventh day in a row, firefighting teams continue to fight fires on the island of Evia, and an official source on the island said that 500 firefighters - including 200 from Ukraine and Romania - supported by 17 water-launching aircraft and a helicopter, are trying to extinguish the fires and prevent them from reaching residential areas.

The Deputy Governor of Evia stressed the difficult situation on the island due to the lack of resources, noting that the fire devoured at least 35,000 hectares, and destroyed hundreds of homes, as well as evacuating dozens of villages of their residents.

The authorities evacuated thousands of residents using ferries, while the Greek Prime Minister said that his country was experiencing a terrifying summer.

A firefighting official said the heat from the fires was so high that water evaporated from hoses and planes.

Rescue teams arrived from different countries of the European Union and from other countries outside it, including Qatar.
