In Greece, where intense heat continues, large-scale wildfires have caused damage to the islands of the Aegean Sea, forcing more than 2,000 residents to evacuate from the islands.

Greece has been hit by the most severe heat waves of the last 30 years, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius every day, and has been dry, with wildfires everywhere since late last month.



According to AFP news agency, two people have died in the capital Athens and other places so far.



Wildfires have continued for a week on the Aegean Sea of ​​Euboea, which has been particularly devastating, and hundreds of homes have been burned so far.



At the site, fire extinguishing activities are continuing with the participation of firefighters dispatched from neighboring countries, but the fire is spreading due to strong winds, and the residents of the island boarded a ferry and evacuated to the town on the opposite bank.



According to the Coast Guard, more than 2,000 residents have been forced to evacuate the island so far.



A 42-year-old woman who evacuated said, "Our village has been destroyed and we have lost our homes, our belongings and everything. We need a lot of help."
