Iss: 300 deaths and 113,131 cases in Italy in one month

There are 300 victims of Covid in Italy in the last 30 days, an average of ten a day. While the infections were 113,131, with an average age now down to 27 years. This is what the Istituto Superiore di Sanità notes in its periodic report with the data of the integrated Covid surveillance. Also in the last month there have been 1,313 positive cases among health workers. The infected are to a greater extent males (53.2% of cases, while observing all the cases from the beginning of the epidemic the proportions are reversed, 49% of the infected are males), while the recovered are 52,941 in thirty days, less than half of the new ones.

Cases are slowing down, but Sardinia and Sicily are at risk of yellow

The fourth wave is slowing down in Italy, with new daily cases tending towards stabilization and hopefully declining. The percentage change in infections in seven days, as of yesterday, is just over 8%, when July 22, the day of greatest increase so far, had reached over 115%: cases more than doubled in a week. Since that day, the increase has gradually diminished, with some Regions that seem to have overtaken and are already in a downward phase: Lazio (-24% weekly), the Provinces of Trento (-16%) and Bolzano (-4%) , Molise (-3%) Liguria (-3%). Even the incidence, after more than a month of increase, remained at acceptable levels (just under 70 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants). Ordinary hospitalizations and intensive care are worrying, increased respectively by 30% and 35% in the last week, while remaining, even in this case, at levels incomparable to those of the previous waves. In some regions, however, the thresholds of 15% and 10% of employment can be seen, which together with the incidence above 50 cases per hundred thousand are the requirements that lead to the yellow zone. According to Agenas data, Sardinia has already exceeded the quota of 10% of intensive care (yesterday it was 11.2%), while ordinary hospitalizations are still at 6.8%, far from the 15% threshold. The incidence is already yellow, 143 cases per hundred thousand. Sicily also risks, which has an incidence of 108 cases per hundred thousand, 7.4% of intensive and 13.3% of ordinary hospitalizations: a few days of increase could be enough to enter yellow, maybe not this week (the data taken as a reference from the control room are those of Thursday) but next. As for Lazio, the region with the most intensive care units and ordinary wards occupied by Covid patients, the large availability of beds means that occupancy rates are still reasonably far from the risk zone, 5.7% and 6.2% .

Son: 10 million doses from 16 to the end of August

"From 16 August onwards we will have 3 million more doses than we thought, thanks to the work of President Draghi with the European Commission. From the 16th to the end of the month we will therefore have 10 million of doses at a national level that will allow us to continue with an excellent step. It is clear that we need the conviction and support of all citizens. From this point of view, the lion's share must be made by families ". This was stated by the commissioner for the Covid-19 emergency, General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, on the sidelines of a visit to the vaccination hub of Senise, in Basilicata.

Locatelli (Cts): 28 children victims of Covid, vaccine studies even under 12

"I mention the 28 children and young people who unfortunately lost their lives in our country due to Covid. Unfortunately, even under the age of 12 we have seen cases with a bad outcome". But the trials of the vaccine against Covid for the under 12 "are at a very advanced stage and the data are being evaluated by the EMA regulatory agencies for the EU and the FDA for the USA. Precisely because it is essential to also cover the under 12 age group. years of age, the American Academy of Pediatrics even appealed for the FDA to speed up the review process. " This was explained by Franco Locatelli, president of the Higher Council of Health (Css) and coordinator of the technical-scientific committee for the Covid emergency, during his speech at 'L'Aria che tira - Summer' on La7. "The data we have between the ages of 12 and 18 are particularly good, an abundant 55% have already received a dose, if anything, vaccination must be implemented in the 12-15 year range. I make a heartfelt invitation to parents to accompany the children. Studies on the revision of vaccines for the under 12 age group are at a very advanced stage and we want to accelerate because even under this age we have witnessed unfortunate cases, there is no limit to death from Covid. And it is essential that all school operators, teachers and non-teachers, get vaccinated ". The fear of the side effects of the Covid vaccine, added Locatelli," is an unmotivated fear, because we have all the evidence that vaccination in this age group with mRna vaccines is absolutely safe, does not cause significant side effects and protects,as well as from the risk of fatal complications, also from the risk of developing a serious pathology such as the famous systemic multi-inflammatory syndrome. There are not few, in the order of 300, the cases registered in Italy of hospitalization in hospitals and even in intensive care with a stay of several days for this complication ".
