08 August 2021 The comeback of the
African anticyclone
towards central-southern Italy will trigger the fourth intense heat wave of the season: if the current long-term projections are confirmed, it could be the most relevant since the beginning of the summer in terms of duration, extension geographical area and maximum temperature peaks expected.
According to meteorologists, sun and sultry heat will accompany us at least
until the weekend of August 15th
. The locations most heavily affected by the strong African blaze will, once again, be the
Southern
regions
and the Islands
where, between Monday and Wednesday, extreme peaks could be reached. Even in the North, where for the new week a phase of greater atmospheric stability is expected, the heat and the heat seem destined to intensify starting from mid-week, with temperatures that should reach or exceed 35 degrees in the inland areas of the plains. .
The weather forecast for the next few days means that the same Head of the
Civil Protection
Department
, Fabrizio Curcio, launches the fire alarm: "Our country will be affected by very high temperatures, a condition that will facilitate the spread of
forest fires
throughout the territory. Temperatures will increase throughout the Center-South, reaching high values on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 August. In these two days the inland areas of Sicily and Sardinia will register values close to
45 degrees centigrade
"and therefore it is essential to behave correctly and
immediately report
every small outbreak, is Curcio's appeal.
The Civil Protection of
Sardinia
has already launched the Alert: from Monday 9 and until at least Friday 13 August on the island, maximum temperatures are expected widely above 37 ° C, and locally well over 40 ° C, with minimum night temperatures widely above 24 ° C, with local peaks over 30 ° C.
