Saudi Arabia gives families of health workers who died in Corona 133,000 dollars

On Sunday, Saudi Arabia began disbursing 500,000 riyals ($133,000) to the families of the medical and health sector employees who died as a result of Covid-19, since the first infection was recorded in the Kingdom in March 2020, according to the official media.

Last October, Saudi Arabia decided to grant the amount to the families of the deceased working in the governmental or private health sector, whether civilian or military, Saudi or non-Saudi.

At that time, the Kingdom confirmed that the decision is retroactive and applies “as of the date of the first infection with the virus recorded” on March 2, 2020.

And on Sunday, the official Saudi Press Agency announced the start of disbursing “amounts covered by the decision from the families of the deceased due to the Covid-19 pandemic from health workers... who gave their lives in the face of this pandemic in order to preserve the health and safety of citizens and residents in the Kingdom.”

The health sector in Saudi Arabia attracts thousands of foreign cadres.

However, it is not clear how many employees of the sector have died as a result of the virus.

The Kingdom is seeking to speed up the nationwide vaccination campaign.

More than 29 million doses of an anti-Coronavirus vaccine have been administered to the population of the Kingdom, according to data published by the Ministry of Health on Saturday.

As of Saturday, Saudi Arabia had recorded more than 532,000 cases of coronavirus, including 8,320 deaths.
