The audit office could move in, as well as the social work office and probably the immigration office.

However, it has not yet been decided which offices will use the new administration building that the state capital intends to build in the immediate vicinity of the justice and administration center “Mainzer Straße”.

It is only clear that Wiesbaden needs more office space for its employees, especially since 100,000 square meters are already rented in private real estate.

But some of them do not meet the standards that Wiesbaden expects from modern office space, says Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende (SPD).

It will be some time before the five-storey new building with up to 330 workplaces is on the communal site of 7,500 square meters on Weidenbornstrasse, which is currently partially used as a parking lot.

Even if the new building is to be built in a modern and time-saving modular design, it will hardly be possible to move into it before 2025.

Because the architectural competition for the multi-million dollar major project has only just been concluded.

Aboveground park building planned

After two rounds of elimination, four offices were shortlisted, and in the end the jury, chaired by Mikala Holme Samsøe, unanimously decided to recommend the Munich architecture office Dietrich Untertrifaller in cooperation with the Dresden landscape architect Robert Storch with the contract for the new building to entrust.

The city had paid particular attention to sustainable construction and expected from the participants a “sophisticated and intelligent design in terms of a future-oriented working environment, hospitable proximity to the citizen and a comprehensively understood sustainability”.

According to the judges, this is now available.

Samsøe said that when the public sector builds, it also shows "what society looks like".

The winning design also captivates with its "simplicity".

A representative of the victorious Munich office Untertrifaller said that they are deliberately planning a separate, above-ground parking building and an office building with a wooden facade, which has a high degree of flexibility on the inside. The demolition was also considered in the planning. An “enchanted garden” is planned for the green corridor in the open space to the neighboring properties, which will have a positive influence on the microclimate on the building.
