15 tips for validating employment contracts in the UAE

The UAE government has warned foreign people, who wish to come to the UAE for work, visit, investment or residence, of possible fraud that they may be exposed to, whether in work contracts or entry visas.

Through her official portal, she gave 15 tips, stressing that the foreigner should follow them before coming to the country to avoid fraud.

She cautioned that the entry permit for the purpose of tourism or visit does not give you the right to work in the UAE, and if you work after entering the country on a tourist or visit visa, you may be subject to large fines and deportation from the country.

She reviewed the tips to be followed, which are:

1- If someone offers you a job in the UAE, he must submit a job offer to you issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in the UAE, and it must bear the signature of the responsible manager.

2- You can verify the validity of the job offer through the UAE embassy in your country.

The job offer number can be used to verify the legal status of the employer via the website of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Inquiry Services - Application Status).

2- After you sign the job offer, the employer will send you an electronic entry permit for the purpose of work so that you can enter the country. To verify the validity of the entry permit issued by any of the seven emirates of the country, please see points 8 and 9 below.

4- An entry permit for the purpose of tourism or visit does not give you the right to work within the UAE, and if you work after entering the country on a tourist or visit visa, you may be subject to large fines and deportation from the country.

5- It should be noted that the sponsor (the employer) is responsible for paying all the expenses of the recruitment process under the UAE Labor Law.

6- Make sure that the company has a presence and is legally existing. You can search for the company’s name in English and Arabic on the National Economic Register website, and get the company’s data.

7- If you have any inquiries regarding employment and employment contracts in the UAE, you can contact the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation by phone (+97168027666), by mail (ask@mohre.gov.ae), or via the instant chat service.

8- If you have obtained a visa/entry permit issued by Dubai, you can check it on the website of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.

9- As for visas/entry permits issued by Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, or Fujairah, you can check their validity through the electronic platform (eChannels) of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.

10- Entry permits for the purpose of tourism are issued by existing airlines in the UAE, such as Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways, flydubai, and Air Arabia.

Entry permits for tourism are also issued by hotels and travel agencies licensed in the UAE.

11- In order not to pay more than what is due, learn about the fees for visas and entry permits issued by Dubai.

12- Get assistance with visas and entry permits issued by Dubai through the instant chat service on the Amer website, affiliated with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai.

13- Find out more information about visas and entry permits issued by Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah through the instant messaging service on the eChannels platform of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.

14 - There is no such thing as a “freelance work visa” that enables you to work in any company. Rather, you are supposed to work for your sponsor or employer who issued you the visa.

However, there is a possibility that the sponsor will give you a permit to work for another employer after the approval of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

15- It is not possible to complete the residence visa procedures for anyone who is still outside the UAE, as the applicant must enter the country with a valid entry permit, and remain there until the completion of the procedures for issuing a residence visa.
