The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services stated that it is working on the manufacture of a marine rescue boat, with Emirati hands, the first in the world, which operates on the "Intrax" system, as part of the Corporation's readiness to host the global event "Expo 2020".

The Executive Director of the Foundation, Khalifa Al-Dray, told Emirates Today that the developed marine ambulance boat will be manufactured in cooperation with the Emirati company Ocean Boats, and will be manufactured with an innovative interior design, in line with the concept of development and innovation adopted by the Foundation.

Al-Dray said: "We are in an accelerating, changing world, and we are keen to keep pace with it with the latest technologies and tools that are in line with the ambition of our leadership, while preserving the concepts and terminology related to the Emirati heritage and national identity."

He pointed out that innovation at the level of services is at the forefront of the priorities and goals that the Corporation seeks to achieve, so it is keen to equip its ambulance fleet with the latest technologies, and international standards in the field of ambulance services, stressing that the Corporation is ready to face crises and disasters, whether at the level of emergency staff, technical or Medical equipment, as it has qualified technical cadres to deal with all emergency marine conditions.

Al-Dari stated that the Foundation has developed a plan to launch eight marine boats for the coming years, which will cover eight joint emergency points between the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, the General Directorate of Civil Defense and Dubai Police, pointing out that the current boat was called "the hand rope".

He pointed out that the boat is the second in the Corporation's fleet within the marine ambulance service, as the first boat, which is stationed at Jumeirah Point - Fishermen's Port, was launched in March 2019, as part of the plan to prepare for the global event "Expo 2020".

He stressed that the task of the new boat is to respond quickly, provide emergency ambulance services, treat patients, injured and shipwrecked people in water bodies, avoid aggravating their conditions with the help of rescue teams and trainers, treat them at the scene of the accident and take care of them, and then transfer them to the hospital if necessary.

He pointed out that the boat, which will join the Foundation’s fleet, is characterized by medical equipment with international specifications, such as the “Lucas” device, which is an automatic cardiac resuscitation device, a mechanical respirator, an electrocardiogram device, an advanced electric shock device, a hydraulic stretcher to absorb high waves shocks, a fluid suction device and a patient’s medical report device. Kermonix" is connected to the operating room, and the boat will be connected to a "stick" device that determines the position of the boat at sea, and enables the institution to follow the movements of the boat at sea.

He said that the new boat will provide its services in the "Blue Water" area, and to serve visitors to the "Expo 2020" exhibition coming from the sea, and to those who go to the marine areas in the region.

Al-Dray added: "The Foundation is working to develop the emergency medical care system, which is a national humanitarian responsibility that the workers in (Dubai Ambulance) carry on their shoulders, so we harness all possibilities and resources to save lives, and we are ready to provide the best emergency medical services to the visitors of (Expo), as it will not be limited to We are prepared on land through various ambulance mechanisms, but we will provide our emergency services at sea as well.”

For his part, the head of the Ports Ambulance Division, Zaid Al-Maamari, said: “Based on the directives of the Executive Director of the Corporation;

We have developed a comprehensive development plan that included preparing and qualifying qualified human cadres to work on water bodies, and they were trained in swimming, rescue and endurance of different sea conditions.”

New systems and tools were also introduced in the new boat;

Such as the “Intrax” system, which is a system for distributing medical equipment inside the boat’s cabin by distributing separate ambulance kits hanging on the wall of the cabin, so that it is easy to reach and transfer the required bags when needed to the patient’s location, which will contribute to saving time and effort in treating the patient and the injured.

He added, "We have dealt with 257 emergency cases in the past three years, and our goal is to cover all water bodies in the Emirate of Dubai for quick access and support the speed of response to marine accidents."

Air-conditioned cabin for patient comfort

The new boat is 47 feet long and 13 feet wide, at a speed of 60 miles per hour, and can accommodate 10 people and three machines with a capacity of 900 horses.
