  According to reports, the incident occurred at about 8:30 pm on the 6th local time. A man was driving in a train in Setagaya District with a knife suddenly assaulting passengers in the carriage, causing 10 people to be injured, one of whom was more than 20. A year-old female college student was severely stabbed.

  After the incident, the suspect fled the car, but after about an hour and a half, he was arrested in Suginami District, Tokyo, about 5 kilometers away from the scene of the incident.

  The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department said that in addition to knives, the suspect also brought cooking oil and a lighter into the car, and tried to light the car, but was unsuccessful.

  According to the investigation, the suspect had been reported for stealing from a store during the day. When he was about to return to the store to attack the clerk at night, he found that the store was closed and decided to commit the crime inside the train.

  The suspect also confessed, "(Kill) anyone is fine. I want to kill anyone who looks very happy as long as I see them."
