Yesterday, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai opened a main bridge at the intersection of Nad Al Sheba Street and Dubai-Al Ain Road, with a length of 170 meters, with a capacity of two lanes in each direction, and serving traffic from the Dubai-Al Ain road to the Nad Al Sheba area, Meydan area, and projects development in the region, and vice versa.

The Nad Al Sheba intersection development project is part of the Dubai-Al-Ain road development project, which is currently implemented by the authority, which includes the development of six main intersections, and the expansion of the road from three lanes to six lanes in each direction, with a length of 17 km, starting from the intersection of the Dubai-Al Ain Road with Al-Ain Street. Emirates to Bukadra intersection with Ras Al Khor Street.

Mattar Muhammad Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, said that the new bridge has a capacity of 6,600 vehicles per hour in both directions, and contributes to reducing the journey time at the intersection of Nad Al Sheba Street and Dubai-Al Ain Road, from 104 seconds to 13 seconds, at a rate of 88%. Achieving the flow of traffic at the intersection during peak hours and raising the level of traffic safety, as the 560-meter slopes of the bridge were provided with a signal to provide maximum safety and traffic safety for road users. The project included the implementation of improvements to the internal and external surface roads in the Nad Al Sheba area.

He explained that the authority has completed 70% of the total project for the development of the Dubai - Al Ain road, which is one of the largest infrastructure projects for road networks currently implemented by the authority, and the number of beneficiaries is estimated at about 1.5 million people. With Ras Al Khor Street, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and Emirates Street, in addition to serving existing and future development projects on both sides of the Dubai-Al Ain road, it also contributes to doubling the road’s capacity from 6000 vehicles per hour each. Driving to 12,000 vehicles per hour in each direction, as well as reducing the journey time on the Dubai-Al Ain road, which extends from Bukadra intersection to its intersection with Emirates Road, from 16 minutes to eight minutes, and solving the problem of congestion, which was two kilometers long.

The scope of work of the second phase of the Dubai-Al-Ain road development project includes the expansion of the main road from three lanes to six lanes in each direction, in addition to the construction of new bridge intersections and service roads that ensure safe entry and exit from residential and service areas on both sides of the road. Nad Al Sheba, in addition to the intersection of Al Maidan Street with Dubai - Al Ain Road and its link with Al Manama Street, where a bridge will be constructed consisting of four lanes in each direction to connect Al Maidan Street and Manama Street, as well as the development of the existing bridge on Al Maidan and Dubai - Al Ain Streets to serve the affiliated development projects for the field.
