“The Dress Girl”: They rejected me in two subjects... and Tanta University reveals new details in the incident

The Egyptian student Habiba Tarek, known in the media as “The Dress Girl”, revealed after she wrote a post about bullying her for wearing a short dress during the exam at Tanta University. .

The student, who studies in the second year of the Faculty of Arts at Tanta University, said, according to "Al Arabiya.net", that she received threats before announcing the result that she failed in two subjects, through a private message from a fake account on "Facebook" threatening and bargaining with her to give up the lecturer before the result was announced.

The student added that she ignored the message, but was surprised after the result was officially announced that she had already failed in two subjects, which means repeating the year again, stressing that despite that, she does not accuse the university of tampering with its papers or its result.

Through a video broadcast on her Facebook page, the student Habiba Tarek indicated that she had failed in two subjects and that she intends to transfer from Tanta University to a private university in Alexandria, and if necessary, to travel to study abroad.

The girl said during the video that she does not regret wearing the dress that caused the crisis, she said.

In response to what was reported by the student Habiba, a source at the mentioned university indicated that the student “failed in the Arabic language subject from the first year, and failed in 3 subjects of the first term in the second year, in addition to two subjects in the second term, bringing the total of the failed subjects to 6 subjects.” He added, "She failed in 4 subjects before the incident, and did not attend the exam for two subjects in the second term."

The incident began in June, when Habiba posted a post on Facebook in which she said that she had been bullied at the Faculty of Arts at Tanta University by monitoring officials inside the committees, and two women outside the committees because of the dress she was wearing.

The student added in the post, that the beginning of the matter was from inside the committee, where an observer bullied her, and two observers stopped her after she left the exam in front of the committee, and one of them said to her: "You forgot to wear pants or what?"

In this regard, the President of Tanta University, Dr. Mahmoud Zaki, referred the case of the student to the Public Prosecution after it was reported on social media.
