In Tunisia, the population is struggling to fill their pantries due to inflation.

Last week, the president received the employers' unions.

Kaïs Saïed has on several occasions made statements calling on companies and businessmen to make efforts on prices.

In particular, he called on those responsible for distribution circuits to "contribute to the national effort, and not to exploit this situation to speculate or increase prices" denouncing speculators.

“

Let's lower the prices and allow the people to eat! We listen to what the president says!

As soon as you enter Tunis's central market, the tone is set. Here the president's announcements did not go unnoticed. Hassan, a fruit seller, has already changed his labels. “

We are not the ones who can lower the prices.

We are at the end of a chain.

Supermarkets buy wholesale directly from the producer while I buy from an intermediary.

So I don't have a lot of room

.

"

In supermarkets that have committed to lowering prices, there are only a few promotions, but no big change in basic products.
