Before the summer, Minister of Education Anna Ekström (S) clearly announced that all teaching will take place on site this autumn.

As the start of the term is now approaching and the spread of infection is increasing, the principals of the schools are working intensively to find the forms for how the teaching can be conducted in the school at the same time as the recommendations that remain can be followed.

- It is about avoiding congestion in, for example, dining rooms and in corridors.

It is important to find the new normal, says infection control doctor Signar Mäkitalo.

Varying premises

According to Mäkitalo, for example, it could be about changing the scheduling to control the number of students on the premises.

- But of course there are difficulties.

The schools' premises look different and not everyone is spacious in the way that is needed, says Signar Mäkitalo.

Vaccine for 16-year-olds

And despite the fact that the vaccine is now available to high school students, there is a risk of further increased spread of infection in connection with the start of school.

- One can imagine that there will be problems, says Signar Mäkitalo.
