"I ask you to assist in introducing amendments to the Labor Code, in particular to Article 99, in order to allow forest firefighters overtime work and appropriate compensation," TASS quotes Nikolayev as saying at a meeting of the President of Russia on the situation with floods and fires in Russian regions.

According to him, at the moment, firefighters cannot work on fires for more than eight hours a day, but in the taiga, on personal enthusiasm, they often work for 12 and 14 hours.
