Song Young-gil, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, emphasized once again that the South Korea-U.S. combined military exercise scheduled for the 16th should be carried out without delay or interruption.

At the Democratic Party's Supreme Committee meeting today (6th), Song Young-gil, president of the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "Various opinions are being presented about the ROK-U.S. joint exercise, but all opinions mean that they are loyal to the hope of peace on the Korean Peninsula and the speedy restoration of inter-Korean relations." The joint exercise is a combined command post exercise that does not mobilize large-scale outdoor mobile forces, and is an unavoidable procedure to recover wartime operational control.”

Earlier, 74 members of the Pan-Passport Party, including the Democratic Party, the Justice Party, the Open Democratic Party, and the Basic Income Party, issued a statement yesterday (the 5th) to conditionally postpone the ROK-U.S. joint military exercise.

After the recent restoration of the inter-Korean liaison line, Kim Yo-jong, deputy director of the Workers' Party of Korea, has called for the suspension of joint military exercises between the US and South Korea.

74 lawmakers viewed this as a request from North Korea because it needed a justification for resuming inter-Korean dialogue, and argued that the postponement of the training should be used as a negotiating card with the North.

However, Chairman Song and the party leadership adhered to the position that preparations were already being made and that the training should proceed as scheduled, and this was reconfirmed today.

"(The ROK-U.S. joint military exercise) is a defensive exercise and it is a problem that must be persuaded to North Korea," he emphasized.

“Resolving inter-Korean issues involves trust and cooperation between South Korea and the United States, mutual trust between the two Koreas,Ultimately, we have to work hard to build trust between North America and the United States together.”
