Kungsbackaposten was the first to report that prosecutor Pernilla Johansson is appealing the verdict to the Court of Appeal for Western Sweden.

"Since she was released after the last day of the trial, it was expected that she would not be convicted of murder, but I still expected her to be sentenced to responsibility for something," Pernilla Johansson told the newspaper.

The district court ruled that the woman was in an emergency situation.

Although the violence used was disproportionate to the situation, she was acquitted because she has an intellectual disability that was considered to have affected her judgment and impulse control.
