05 August 2021 "I have decided to stop at the end of the season. This will be the last half of the season as a Moto Gp rider".

This was announced by Valentino Rossi, 42, who has spent 25 on the circuit since his debut in the 125 class of 1996.

"I'm very sorry, I wanted to race another 20-25 years but unfortunately it's not possible. But it was nice, there were unforgettable moments in which I had a lot of fun, I will always take this to me. From next year mine my life will change. I will not ride the bike, something I have done more or less for the last 30 years, it has been very, very nice. " He added explaining that "it was a difficult decision but you have to understand that in all sports the results make a difference. I think it's the right way. When I started the championship I wanted to continue, but you had to understand if I was fast enough and during the season. the results were below expectations ".

"I'm not happy, but even if I had to do another year, next year I wouldn't be happy. It was difficult because I would have the opportunity to compete with my team, with my brother, I would have liked it but that's okay, I think - added the 9 times world champion -. We still have half of the season, it will be more difficult when it comes to the last race ".

Speaking of his career, Rossi admitted only one regret: "I'm a bit sad not to have won the tenth championship, because I deserved it, I lost twice in the last race. But I certainly can't complain about my career."

"I love to race with cars, maybe just less than with bikes. I think I will race with cars but it is still an ongoing process. There is no decision taken, I feel like a rider on a motorcycle or in a car and I will stay that way. for my whole life. Maybe not at the same level but I think I'll race anyway. " announced talking about his future after the announcement of the farewell.
