Fujairah Municipality revealed that 2,918 food and environmental samples were analyzed according to the necessary standards and requirements, during the first half of this year, using the latest technical devices and technologies.

She said that the results of the laboratory examination showed the presence of 106 samples that did not conform to the specifications, pointing out that it prevented the entry of non-conforming samples to the emirate's markets.

She confirmed the conduct of a survey of acidity in honey, and a survey of the microbial conformity of ice cream samples, with the aim of ensuring the quality of storage operations for food products during the summer period in food and groceries stores, to intensify control over the emirate's markets.

She added that the foodstuffs coming to the emirate are subject to analysis, to ensure their standard specifications before issuing the validity certificate that guarantees them access to the market after conducting three types of analyzes, which are chemical, physical and microbiological analysis, stressing that the presence of the municipal laboratory contributed to the rapid analysis of the food samples that it collects. Inspectors or dealers bring them in order to sell them in the emirate's markets.

The municipality pointed out that most food violations are concentrated in the food card not conforming to the UAE standard specifications, in addition to other known violations, which are violations related to the safety of the food in terms of physical, biological and chemical aspects. .

She stated that the laboratory participated in conducting 59 merit checks to measure and verify the efficiency of laboratory tests, which are global tests to measure the efficiency of the laboratory compared to other laboratories accredited according to "ISO 17025:2017", and conducted 57 quality checks of known value, in addition to other internal tests using solutions. Standards and approved standards to ensure the efficiency of equipment and laboratory tests.

The laboratory has a role in maintaining food safety and water quality, in cooperation with the inspectors of the Public Health Department, who conduct surveys on the markets of Fujairah and its affiliated areas.
