As a countermeasure against the new coronavirus, the government has expanded the coverage area of priority measures such as prevention of spread.

We would like to stop the rapid spread of infection by thoroughly taking measures against infection at restaurants, promoting vaccination of younger generations, and calling for refraining from returning home and traveling during the Obon festival.

As the spread of the new coronavirus continues, the government has added eight prefectures, Fukushima, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Shizuoka, Aichi, Shiga, and Kumamoto, to the areas to which priority measures such as spread prevention are applied, and the period is 8 this month. I decided to do it from the day to the 31st.

As a result, the coverage area of priority measures will be expanded to 13 prefectures.

Under these circumstances, the number of newly infected people on the 1st exceeded 5,000 for the first time in Tokyo, where a state of emergency was declared on the 5th, and exceeded 15,000 nationwide, the highest number ever.

Prime Minister Suga told reporters, "It is necessary to take thorough measures while increasing the sense of caution," and in order to prevent the spread of the infection nationwide, mainly in the area where it will be the base. He explained that he had no intention of issuing a state of emergency nationwide as a means of strengthening measures.

Under the declaration and priority measures, the government will thoroughly stop the provision of alcohol at restaurants, promote vaccination of younger generations, and make every effort to secure a medical care provision system.

And, as the highly infectious mutant virus spreads, we urge the people to thoroughly implement basic infection control measures, and persistently urge them to refrain from going out unnecessarily and to refrain from returning home or traveling during the Obon festival. I would like to stop the rapid spread of infection by doing so.
