The Minister of Health Olivier Véran stressed Thursday that "no one will be deprived of care according to the health pass", during a visit to the Aix-en-Provence hospital center.

"We will never stop treating anyone," insisted the minister during a meeting with caregivers, just before the Constitutional Council validates the law establishing the health pass and compulsory vaccination for carers.

The Constitutional Council has also validated the obligation of the health pass for visitors or non-urgent patients in health establishments and retirement homes as long as the latter does not "obstruct access to care".

Thursday morning, dozens of people demonstrated in front of the University Hospital Institute (IHU) and the North Hospital of Marseille against the compulsory vaccination of hospital staff at the call of the Sud Santé union joined by the CGT.

There was a "democratic debate in the National Assembly and the Senate," replied the minister.

Mr. Véran underlined the new profile of Covid-19 patients: "in intensive care we find people who are a little younger than in previous waves, since very old people are massively vaccinated".

We find "almost exclusively unvaccinated patients, we also see people who worsen faster than in previous waves", an effect "probably" of the Delta variant, he noted.

"The teams tell me that they have the feeling of being a bit like before a tsunami, that is to say when you have the feeling that the wave is withdrawing, that the birds are no longer singing, that there is no has more wind and we are waiting for the moment when the water will fall, "he said.

"I obviously do not want it, the teams will do everything possible to treat all the sick," he continued.

Faced with the outbreak of Covid-19, the white plan was activated in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (Paca) region, as well as in Occitania and Corsica, making it possible to mobilize health personnel and increase the number of intensive care beds.

The minister indicated during his visit to also look "with concern at the situation in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes".
