National model worker Zhang Lianlian insisted on planting trees for 40 years:

Vow to change the barren mountain

When you come to Leipingta Village in Ansai, Yan'an, what you see is the lush greenery of the mountains.

"The trees on the mountain can't hold anyone alone." Villager Zhang Lianlian led the reporter to climb the hillside where she had been planting trees for decades, watching the luxuriant branches above her head and breathing the fresh and moist air. It is believed that this place was once a high slope of loess with aridity, little rain and barren land.

In the early 1980s, "the erosion of soil and water became blind every year, and the mochi was so dry as to twist the twists" is a true portrayal of Leipingta Village at that time.

Inspired by her father working in the Forestry Bureau, Zhang Lianlian thought that by planting trees and curing soil erosion, good crops can be planted and the family can live a good life.

"The tree is only long and not short, and the tree will never lose money." Since then, Zhang Lianlian has embraced the idea of "planting a tree" and has been working for 40 years.

Without a sapling, she borrowed money to buy it; without a water cellar, she picked it herself.

On the winding mountain roads, some of them can't even get up to cattle and sheep, but Zhang Lianlian has to pick dozens of pallets every day to water the trees.

Zhang Lianlian said that the barren mountains were full of stones at that time, and the shovel could not be shoveled in, and the shovel could not be digged. She was forced to plan by hand. As a result, her ten fingers were rotten to the flesh and blood.

After Yan'an returned farmland to forests in 1999, Zhang Lianlian became more motivated with the good policies of the party and the state.

Over the years, for this piece of woodland, Zhang Lianlian did not breathe a sigh of relief. The family used more than 100 shackles and shovels, wore more than 300 pairs of shoes, planted 200,000 trees, and left 1750 acres of barren hills. Changed its appearance.

In 2000, Zhang Lianlian was awarded the title of "National Model Worker", and this year he was awarded the title of "National Outstanding Communist Party Member".

People who have seen Zhang Lianlian today are all impressed by her hands-the back of the hand is dark, the palms are white, and the joints are thick, but this is a pair of hands that work gloriously, create a green color, and benefit children and grandchildren.

"A happy family comes from struggle." Zhang Lianlian wrote this sentence on her courtyard wall. She said: "As long as you inherit the Yan'an spirit and carry forward the style of hard work, you can overcome difficulties and move forward. To'green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains'."
