04 August 2021 Luca Palamara's removal from the judiciary has been confirmed. This was established by the United Civil Sections of the Cassation in line with what was decided by the disciplinary section of the CSM on 9 October last.

The decision comes after the hearing that took place on June 8 where the representatives of the Attorney General of the Supreme Court had expressed themselves in favor of the confirmation of the expulsion of Palamara from the judicial order.

Therefore, the appeal presented by the defense of the former councilor of the CSM was rejected. The sentence thus becomes final.

The Palamara case

Palamara was investigated as deputy prosecutor in Rome and "leading exponent" of the National Magistrates Association and subsequently as a member of the CSM, for disputed facts from 2013 to February 2018.

Palamara's objective was, according to the judges, "to influence the activity of the CSM in an occult way ", guiding the appointments of the prosecutors of Rome and Perugia, and proposing himself as deputy prosecutor of the capital after having tried to delegitimize Paolo Ielo.

Palamara is still on trial for corruption in Perugia.
