Substitute holidays that were applied only to the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays and Children's Day are extended to March 1st, Liberation Day, National Foundation Day, and Hangeul Day.

The Ministry of Personnel Management announced that the amendment to the Presidential Decree 'Regulations on Public Holidays in Public Offices' passed the Cabinet Meeting today (3rd).

After that, it will take effect from tomorrow as soon as it is approved by the president.

Accordingly, this year, substitute holidays are newly applied on the 3rd day of Liberation Day, National Foundation Day, and Hangeul Day, which overlap on Saturdays or Sundays, making August 16, October 4, and October 11 rest days.

The 'Public Holidays Act' passed by the National Assembly in June stipulates that 'If a public holiday overlaps on a Saturday, Sunday or other public holiday, it may be designated and operated as a substitute holiday' and operation were delegated to the Presidential Decree.

At the time of the passage of the law, it was reported that substitute holidays were applied to all public holidays, but after consultation with relevant ministries and collecting opinions of related groups, the government decided to expand the application of alternative holidays only to 'national holidays' except for Buddha's Birthday and Christmas Day. I did.
