The bioethics law, the most emblematic measure of which is the opening of the PMA to lesbian couples and single women, was promulgated on Tuesday in the Official Journal.

The Constitutional Council had rejected Thursday the appeals filed by LR and UDI deputies, after the final vote on the law in Parliament on June 29.

The disputed provisions, which concerned research on human embryos and embryonic stem cells, the donation of gametes and the information of parents during the performance of prenatal examinations, "are in accordance with the Constitution", ruled the Wise Men. .

In addition to the enlargement of the assisted reproduction, the bioethics law provides for a new mode of filiation for the children of couples of women and allows children born of a donation to access, as they come of age, "non-identifying data" (age, characteristics). physical, etc.) of the donor and, if they so wish, their identity.

It also allows the conservation of gametes (oocytes and spermatozoa) to carry out a future pregnancy, until now strictly conditioned for medical reasons.

In genetic testing, it allows a doctor to inform the patient if the result reveals anything other than the original purpose of the test (for example, to identify a disease).

On the research side, it facilitates in particular research on embryonic stem cells.
