The very famous governor of the State of New York, Andrew Cuomo, could be pushed out after the conclusions of an independent investigation ordered by the American justice.

According to the investigative report, this popular figure of the Democratic Party has "sexually harassed several women," including "former and current" state officials, the New State prosecutor announced on Tuesday (August 3rd). York, Letitia James.

The investigation attributes to Andrew Cuomo inappropriate gestures, "unwanted kisses and hugs", as well as "inappropriate comments".

According to investigators' findings, the governor and his staff "also took retaliatory measures against at least one employee for testifying," a statement from the prosecutor's office said.

"Finally, the governor's executive team fostered a toxic work environment which made harassment and a hostile working atmosphere possible," adds the office.

Cuomo had refused to resign

Asked whether he should resign, Letitia James said "the decision rests with the governor of New York State. The report speaks for itself."

The governor, who denied the charges when they were made public, was heard at length by investigators on July 17.

Sixty elected Democrats and influential figures, such as left-wing star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, called for his resignation, but he refused.

Andrew Cuomo had gained popularity for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, of which New York had been the American epicenter in the spring of 2020. He had established himself, thanks to his daily press conferences, as the chief general of the war declared to Covid-19.

This media exposure and his new popularity made him a competitor of President Donald Trump on the American media scene for a time.
