China News Service, August 2nd, reported that on August 1, local time, the death toll caused by the fire disaster on the southern coast of Turkey rose to 8, and the number of injured rose to 864.

Firefighters have been working hard for five consecutive days to control the fire raging in coastal resort towns.

  Turkey’s Health Minister Koca posted on social media, “The forest fire in Antalya Province resulted in 8 deaths. 497 of the 507 wounded in the area have been discharged. 203 of Bodrum and Marmaris were injured, of which 186 were injured. People have been discharged from the hospital. One person died in the fire in Marmaris. All 154 injured in Mersin Province have been discharged.”

  Authorities say that most of the more than 100 fires that have occurred in the past five days have been brought under control.

However, the fires in Manavgat, Marmaris and the inland town of Milas are still burning.

  Since the fire broke out, thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes.

Local residents and support teams from Russia, Ukraine, Iran and Azerbaijan are helping firefighters to put out the fire.

  At least 13 aircraft, 45 helicopters, drones and 828 fire trucks participated in the fire fighting.

  The Turkish government promised to rebuild burnt houses and compensate for losses in fire-affected areas.
