All the big favorites of the 200m of the Tokyo Olympic Games obtained their tickets on Monday for the final which will be played on Tuesday.

The young Frenchwoman Gemima Joseph (19 years old), on the other hand, was eliminated, 7th in her race in 23 sec 19.

Jamaicans Elaine Thompson-Herah (21 sec 66), crowned for the 2nd time on Saturday in the 100m and also title holder on the half-lap, and runner-up Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce easily qualified (22 sec 13), just like the Ivorian Marie-Josée Ta Lou (22 sec 11) and the Bahamian Shaunae Miller-Uibo (22 sec 14).

“I had never run two 200m in the same day, after three laps in 100m it takes a lot of effort. I'm happy to be in the final, I feel good so I can't wait. tired, with my eyes it looks like someone hit me. But hey, that's how it is in the league, "said Fraser-Pryce.

"I expect even better tomorrow," warned Thompson-Herah, who tied his personal best in the semifinals.

Small sensations, the two hyperandrogenic athletes from Namibia, Beatrice Masilingi (22 sec 40) and Christine Mboma (21 sec 97), both 18 years old, will also be at the rendezvous of the final.

In just over two months, Mboma has just subtracted seven tenths of a second from his best time over 200m, to once again beat the junior world record but above all the African record.

The young athlete has exploded this season to become the 7th best performer of all time in the 400m at the end of June.

But her Olympic committee announced a few days later that she could not match the distance to the Olympics, being concerned by the regulation on hyperandrogenism.

Since 2019, hyperandrogenic athletes must undergo treatment to lower their testosterone levels for six consecutive months before they can participate in an international competition in the 400m per mile (1,609m).

The Nigerian Aminatou Seyni, also concerned by the regulation, was however eliminated, 5th in her series in 22 sec 54.
