Tourism Justice knocks down the Covid certificate to enter bars in the Canary Islands and opens the debate on its legality
The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, this Monday was in favor of analyzing the possibility of implementing the requirement of having the Covid certificate to be able to access certain public spaces, such as bars and restaurants.
"I believe that this, as soon as we go from a percentage of vaccinated to which we have not yet reached, we will have to study it again," said the regional leader in an interview on Telecinco.
"It would be necessary to begin to study which people being negative and, above all, those who are vaccinated begin to have a certain normal life," he specified.
Ayuso already proposed a year ago the creation of a Covid card in which it would be recorded which patients had had the disease and generated antibodies.
As he suggested, this document would allow its bearers to
access closed spaces such as gyms, cinemas and museums
, although he did not specify under what conditions.
The Madrid president herself acknowledged this Monday that that proposal caused "a tremendous fire."
His then number two in the regional government, Ignacio Aguado, reduced its scope to a mere database, assuring that it would not be "
no passport of immunity"
and that he did not seek to "generate privileges or benefits for anyone."
Now Ayuso returns to vindicate said measure assuring that "it is not so much to say who cannot enter as to say who can enter."
"That is, if a place has a 50% restriction [of capacity] right now, people who are already vaccinated should not even enter that 50%," he added.
The proposal of the president of the Community of Madrid comes after the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) has suspended in a precautionary manner the measure of the regional government to require the Covid certificate or a negative test to people who want to enter indoors in hotel and restaurant establishments.
The measure, on the other hand, is being applied in Galicia.
In any case, Ayuso has pointed out that it is an issue that must be viewed "with caution" because it is not possible to be "hitting the road."
And he has concluded: "Let's see if once and for all we have a national policy at least in this so that citizens can have the same rights when it comes to accessing public spaces whether they live in León or live in Guadalajara."
