A new truce has been reached in the Syrian province of Daraa under Russian auspices

The Central Committees of Daraa in Syria reached a truce agreement with the Russian forces today, Sunday, according to which military operations in the Daraa Al-Balad neighborhood and the governorate’s countryside would stop.

A source in the central committees of Daraa told the German news agency that "after a meeting with officers of the Russian army in the Daraa al-Mahatta neighborhood that lasted for more than two hours, we reached an agreement to continue the calm in the neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad and the western and eastern countryside of Daraa," noting that they are waiting for the Russian forces' command to respond to the terms. Agreement reached.

The local committees of Daraa, which met yesterday in two meetings with the leadership of the Eighth Brigade supported by the Russian forces, did not reach positive results.

Daraa governorate witnessed a major escalation in the past few days, after the Syrian government forces mobilized thousands of their forces to storm the Daraa al-Balad neighborhood, which is controlled by the opposition factions, prompting gunmen in the western and eastern countryside of the governorate to attack and control the Syrian army’s military points.
